Institute for High Frequency & Communication Technology

The primary focus of Prof. Ullrich Pfeiffer’s group is centered on the development, design and characterization of silicon-based chips in the THz range for a wide variety of applications such as imaging, sensing and 6G communication.

One of the latest challenges was exploiting THz radiations for biomedical applications. For this purpose, a portable 2D SoC sensor was designed to facilitates the examination of the life cycle of of human cells enabling real-time monitoring of their viability. The development of this sensor presents a significant advancement in the ongoing THz research, potentially paving the way for new and more critical applications and revolutionizing the biomedicine and the identification of cancer.
