Access to studies at the School of Electrical, Information and Media Engineering
Apart from the regular enrolment procedure for students who have a general or subject-related entrance qualification (“Abitur” or “Fachabitur”), there are also possibilities to enroll at the School of Electrical, Information and Media Engineering for prospective students with vocational qualifications or professional competence.

Start of Studies in the Summer Semester
In contrast to other universities, the School of Electrical, Information and Media Engineering at Bergische Universität Wuppertal has structured the courses of study in Electrical Engineering (B. Sc. and M. Sc.), Information Engineering (B. Sc. and M. Sc.), Computer Science (B.Sc. and M. Sc.) and Industrial Engineering (M. Sc.) in such a way that students can begin their studies both in the winter semester (mid-October) and in the summer semester (March/April) of each year without any major coordination problems.
On the one hand, this saves unnecessary waiting times at the beginning of your studies, and on the other hand, it allows a flexible adaptation of the timetable in case of deviations from the standard period of study.
In order to implement this measure, which shortens the total length of studies, courses covering two semesters or courses that build on each other are offered in parallel, shifted by one semester.
